Ribera del Duero is Spain’s most important “up and coming” wine region. Located in the center just north of Madrid along the Duero river (aka, the Douro in Portugal) in an area overwhelmed with glorious wildflowers, Ribera del Duero is surrounded by mountains cutting off any maritime influence. With very limited oak aging; notes of dark cherry, violets, and rose petals (remember those wildflowers!) are swept into a smoky bouquet and offer heft and a clinging finish on the palate. Enjoy it with grilled meats, game, and hearty fare.
Variety: Tinto Fino (Tempranillo)
