In Spanish, we’re taught that along with meaning “fat, thick, and stout,” gordo is a term that carries very loving, endearing qualities; and never have we come across a wine that captures so many levels of a word’s meaning! From south-east Spain, the Yecla is a region that produces exceptional wine but gets little attention. Perfumed with black raspberry and bitter cherries mixed with notes of leather, cocoa, tannins that grip and grow, and a slightly lingering sweetness on this finish, this wine has heft! Enjoy this with blue cheese, spicy chili, and hot wings!
