  • Mercurey is the most important village in Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise.  Its reds tend to be deeper in color, fuller in body, and more capable of ageing.  And Michel Juillot (through multiple generations) remains one of the region’s leading producers.  With 16 months of ageing in 15% new oak, it has is a hint of wood, but mostly expressive, elegant fruit.  From its roundness of size to its fullness of flavor and earth, this bottle has all you seek in a Villages Burgundy, and then some.  Pair with poultry, or lightly seared beef carpaccio.
