This wine comes from 5th generation vintner Philippe Raimbault, who lives in the village of Sury-en-Vaux, part of the famed Sancerre region. Pouilly-Fumé yields a different expression of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. The grilled apple aromas hint at the name—fumée translates as smoked—and the palate reveals the crisp acidity and steely minerality that is a hallmark of the region. Good value gives this wine added appeal. Terrific with cream sauces, steamed mussels, and smoked salmon.
