Red wines from the Loire are always a treat! Known for whites (Chenin and Sauvignon Blanc) the Loire’s cool yet sunny climate and rich limestone soil make it an ideal spot for yummy and expressive red wines as well! Here we have grolleau—a lighter cousin to the heftier cab franc. More similar to gamay, it possesses a bright, cheery nose of raspberry, and a light body that finishes fresh and dry. Grown from 60 year-old vines, there’s no oak, and it goes great with lighter salads (especially with seafood) or even some spicy tofu!
