With a cooler climate along its lower coast, Australia has long been ideally suited to growing Rhone-style varietals—while also giving it some new-world style. Just north of Melbourne in the south-eastern hump of Australia, Upper Goulburn is just such a location. With notes of peach and honeysuckle and just 20% of new French oak, there is a sumptuous feel to the Ormond while still remaining completely dry, light, and juicy. It’s delicious with fall and winter salads and all manner of fish and white meats.
